What about supplements?

Originally, the Hallelujah Diet offered very little in the way of supplements and was fundamentally to apply the Diet & Lifestyle and let the body do the healing.  Over the years they have begun to offer various supplements, as they learned their importance due to the deficiencies that are existent in our diet today.  The quality of our food supply, even organically grown foods, have become so nutrient deficient as we are exposed to ever increasing toxins in our environment.

Even just a few decades ago, the quality of the soil, food, water, and air was far superior than today.  Not too many years ago, most supplements were poorly made and not compatible with the body’s needs; but today, many of these supplements are produced in such a way that they are recognized and utilized very efficiently by the body.

To ensure that The Hallelujah Acres Diet is nutritionally complete – and to ensure that any supplements Hallelujah Acres recommends are the very best – Dr. Michael Donaldson PhD, chemical engineering graduate of Cornell University was brought on staff for his expertise as a scientic researcher. A naturopath, Olin Idol N.D., C.N.C. is also on staff and his amazing knowledge and understanding of body systems and nutritional balance are a gold mine of information.

Hallelujah Acres values integrity; they will not make a profit at the expense of your health.  This is why they invest in research to develop the very best products available anywhere.  The high quality of Hallelujah Acres branded products is unsurpassed, and seldom equaled because they always use the best ingredients available.

The Hallelujah Acres Research Foundation classifies the products it has either developed or vigorously tested and recommends, into the following categories:

1) Complements - Living Foods

2) Supplements - Fundamental

3) Supplements - Important

4) Supplements - Optional (as needed)

Why BarleyMax?

Goto top

BarleyMax is an exceptionally pure, one-of-a-kind superfood and a vital part of The Hallelujah Diet. Although there are other barley powder products available, BarleyMax rises above all the rest with its unique soil and growing conditions, live enzymatic activity (it’s raw), unique patented very low heat dehydration processing, its freedom from fibre, and as a result, superior low cost nutrition.

Unique Growing Conditions – Our mountain-grown, organic barley and alfalfa crops are planted on 900 acres of mineral rich volcanic lakebed soil at an elevation of 5,000 feet to promote slower growth and incredible nutritional content. The grass juice from this land has by far the highest solids content (BRIX) of any similar product, indicating the mineral-richness of the soil. The nutritional excellence of barley grass has been revered since ancient times; and alfalfa is one of the most mineral-rich foods in the world, thanks to roots that grow as deep as 130 feet into the ground. These crops are fertilized naturally with alfalfa chop and barley pulp (left over from juicing), and other organically-approved soil amendments and irrigated with deep source mineral-rich well water for maximum nutrient uptake. Crop rotation is also practiced, allowing the soil to lie fallow every couple of years to rest and recharge.

Living Enzymes – Using a unique patented drying process, finely strained juice from these grasses is gently dehydrated at just 98 degrees Fahrenheit to lock in nutritional potency and retain the highest enzyme activity of any juice powder you can buy. The result is a fresh tasting, 100% organic, fibre and filler-free juice powder that gives you one of the widest spectrums of naturally occurring nutrients available from a single source.

Superior Nutrition – BarleyMax provides a superior blend of vitamins A, E, and folate, protein, minerals including zinc, manganese, calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus and potassium, essential amino acids, chlorophyll, flavonoids, many trace elements, antioxidants, plus a high level of enzymatic activity that is necessary for building new, strong, healthy and vital cells in your body.

  • Natural enzymes are preserved. As a result of low heat processing, the life force of the barley grass and alfalfa are retained for maximum health benefit.

  • Naturally occurring vitamins are never isolated but always found in food as living complexes. These complexes are easily and quickly assimilated at cellular level, when consumed from fibre-free raw food sources like BarleyMax.

  • Rich amounts of macro and trace minerals in balanced proportions give more cofactors for higher enzyme activity. Our research indicates BarleyMax has higher vitamin content than similar products.

  • An excellent source of antioxidants to help the body defend itself from free radicals, which play a large role in disease and aging. In a measure of total antioxidant capacity, BarleyMax is the leading barley juice of all the products we have tested.

  • Contains chlorophyll, which has been shown to accelerate the healing of wounds with no toxic side effects; protect against chemicals and radiation; and promote intestinal regularity. (If you were to compare the color of BarleyMax against any other green powder product, its higher chlorophyll content is clearly evidenced by its deeper rich green color.)

What Sets BarleyMax Apart From Other Superfoods? – BarleyMax is a DEHYDRATED JUICE PRODUCT CONTAINING NO FIBRE. Many of the cereal grass powders available are made by dehydrating and pulverizing the entire leaf and not just the juice itself. Whole leaf products, with the water locked inside the cells, generally require more heat to dry, compared to juice products containing no fibre. This heat results in higher product degradation.

Whole Leaf Products are Closer to Hay Than Fresh Grass Juice Whole Leaf products are much less expensive to produce, because they still contain all of the fibre, making the product predominantly inexpensive filler. Because the nutrients are locked inside the fibre, few of the nutrients are available to the body for assimilation. Some whole leaf products have a recommended serving size of as much as two TABLESPOONS. The need for such a large serving size is because of all the nutrient devoid fibre the product contains.

BarleyMax Contains Beneficial Bacteria Most of the juice products available today are sanitized, which kills beneficial bacteria. BarleyMax is merely washed to retain naturally occurring beneficial bacteria that is necessary in keeping friendly flora at optimal levels. (Every batch of BarleyMax is tested for bad bacteria before the batch is released.)

BarleyMax is a Pure Dehydrated Juice Powder Spray drying or freeze drying, the most common cereal grass processing methods, destroy some of the enzymes and temperature sensitive nutrients. BarleyMax on the other hand is gently dehydrated at temperatures under 100 degrees to lock in nutritional potency and retain the highest enzyme activity of any juice powder you can buy.

BarleyMax Contains No Maltodextrin Maltodextrin is a starch, and unlike other starch sweeteners, the undefined term “maltodextrin” can be used in an ingredient list no matter the original source of the starch. Maltodextrin is included as an ingredient in many green powder products for several reasons:

  • Maltodextrin is a very inexpensive filler. A seven pound container of maltodextrin is advertised on the internet for $14.95, and a popular barley powder product that has been on the market for years contains as much as 48% maltodextrin. While drastically reducing the cost to produce, maltodextrin makes it a very expensive product to the purchaser when compared to a pure juice product such as BarleyMax, which contains no maltodextrin.

  • Maltodextrin is a complex carbohydrate that converts to sugar and is derived from various sources – including corn (cornstarch), potato, or rice and is used to sweeten the taste of some green powder products. BarleyMax has a pleasant taste, though not as sweet as others, without any maltodextrin.

  • Maltodextrin helps to stabilize enzymes that have been damaged by high-heat spray drying. Some green powder barley products are spray dried in a spray drying milk facility using heat, which destabilized enzymes.

  • Maltodextrin containing products require a larger serving size. Products containing maltodextrin usually suggest a serving size of several teaspoons to a tablespoon (5 grams). That is because the product may contain as little as 52% barley juice powders with the remaining percentage comprised of maltodextrin.

  • BarleyMax costs only 32 cents per serving because it contains no maltodextrin.  That’s less than half the cost of the maltodextrin product.

BarleyMax Costs Less Because it Contains No Fibre – One whole leaf product on the internet contained no juice, and had a cost per serving of 41 cents. As we learned above, whole leaf products are closer to hay than fresh grass juice, and because the nutrients are locked inside the fibre, few of the nutrients are available to the body for assimilation. When looking for a green powder product it is important to look beyond the price and claim, but rather to the value and content.

If you would like to find out if a green powder product contains fibre, just take a serving of the product and stir it into eight ounces of water and let it settle for an hour or so. If you see fibre sitting on the top or settled on the bottom or both, you know the sediment you are seeing is fibre, very expensive filler, for which you paid good money, without obtaining nutritional benefit. Now take a serving of BarleyMax and mix it with eight ounces of water either in a shaker cup or with a battery powdered mixer, and let it settle out. On observation you will find no fibre at top or bottom, proving that BarleyMax contains no fibre, and is thus a pure, 100%, dehydrated juice product with a serving size cost of just 32 cents.

Now which is the better buy: (a) the product containing maltodextrin, (b) the product containing fibre, or (c) the 100% pure juice powder product?

BarleyMax Does Not Contain Probiotics Because probiotics, unless refrigerated, have almost zero shelf life, we do not include probiotics in our products. We have laboratory tested products claiming probiotics on the label, but upon testing, find very little activity. If a person wants their BarleyMax to contain probiotics, they should open a probiotics capsule and mix it in with their BarleyMax.
